Both fully charged and locked onto one TG, the G5 lasted 20.5 hours, while the SDS lasted 8 hours. G5 screen timeout set to 45 seconds and SDS100 set to 10 seconds. The IC-R30 far outperformed the SDS100 and rarely stopped, opened squelch without good clear voice traffic. On noisy or poor voice traffic some were unintelligible on the SDS100, the IC-R30 still had impressive clear audio. When the Software Defined Scanners came along with uniden punching through the market with their flagship SDS100/200 I thought it was worth a shot . From Scotland UK the EU variant SDS200E was chosen and purchased from Lynch and Sons. I can't imagine the TRX-1 is that much more sensitive on DMR than the SDS100. It's 5 volts at 3.4 amps. Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port. Your SDS100 will want just a little under 2 amps to be able to charge while also scanning.I noticed the SDS100 has a dedicated battery pack so that is a buzzkill compared to AA batteries I'm used to. I will be required to purchase an extra battery and charger. It has firmware 1.10.00 and sub version 1.02.01. The Sentinel update to 2.03 went fine and now has the new tuning steps for custom searches, but I don't have any need for them. If it makes any difference, I updated Sentenel first.

The headphone jack on the sds100 has the lowest output of any scanner I have ever had. I have had lots of scanners in my time. The old scanners worked fine with a amplified speaker plugged in the headphone jack. The jack the on the sds100 is dummied down so low a amplified speaker don't help much.As others have pointed out, the speaker is of course smaller in the portable.
